My name is Melissa Savage from Arden, NC. I created this GoFundMe for my best friend, Shawnee Carter - who is not only my best friend, but one of the best people I know. Her and her partner's home in Arden, NC was completely destroyed by a tree that fell during Hurricane Helene on the morning of Friday, September 27th. While they are grateful to be alive, they currently have no place to go and are living under tarps. A huge portion of their savings was spent to remove the tree from the middle of their home and now they are faced with having to clean up the debris and rebuild, which they will have to pay for out of pocket. Shawnee is the owner of a cleaning business and will be out of work for the foreseeable future -- so these donations will ensure that her and her partner are able to rebuild their home, remediate mold, replace their lost belongings, and provide for their needs while they are out of work.
