Help Shawna Find Peace After Tragic Loss

Hi, my name is Shawna, and this isn’t easy for me to write — asking for help has never been my strong suit. But I’m learning that sometimes, healing requires rest, support, and letting others pour into you.

On May 29, 2024, I lost my beautiful 4-year-old son, Kaleb, in a tragic car accident. Since then, life has been a blur. Grief is heavy. And while I’ve stayed busy building projects in his honor — like Kaleb’s Corner and reaching out to brands he loved like Hot Wheels and Crayola — I haven’t truly paused to care for me.

Lately, people have been asking what I want, and that’s been hard to answer. But the truth is… I want to breathe again. I want to relax in the sun, sit by a pool, feel peace, and just be. I’d love to spend a few days at a beautiful hotel and spa in Chicago — somewhere with a view, a little luxury, and space to rest my heart. But more than that… I don’t want to do it alone.

There are so many moms out there grieving silently. Everyone’s pain looks different, and not all grief is the same — but we all deserve a moment to exhale. I want to take one other deserving mother with me. Someone who could also use a break, a breath, and a bit of sisterhood. Even if it’s just a staycation here in Chicago, I want to create space for healing, conversation, and rest.

Here’s where the funds will go:

• Hotel and spa stay for 2 (3 nights in Chicago)

• Meals, self-care, and light excursions

• Local travel

• A small gift for the other mom
