On the afternoon of Christmas, Gavin Swett Dubois, my cousin Shawna's 2nd eldest son, was in a horrible car accident that has left him in critical care. He had to be sedated and on a ventilator for the last 48 hours to give his body rest. Miraculously, there was no major trauma to his body, other than multiple lacerations due to him being thrown out of the truck through an electric fence into a donkey pasture (while a donkey stood around him protecting him). The CT scan did reveal a few brain abrasions and inflammation, which is why they have sedated him.

The plan is to eventually move him to a brain injury rehab facility in Atlanta, GA, which is 3-4 hours from his home.

I'm asking for any help so Shawna can afford to drive back and forth to see Gavin while he heals, meanwhile making sure her other 3 children are also taken care of. Dom, the eldest, has been a huge help with the 2 younger brothers, but with the gas, wear on her older vehicle, as well as needing food and a place to stay, Shawna, who is a single mother of 4 boys and is on disability, always puts her family first. I know she is mentally struggling with wanting to be by Gavin's side as well as making sure her other kids are taken care of.

Any help would be a huge relief so she can focus on helping and supporting Gavin through his injuries as well as keeping her other kids fed and taken care of while she is 3 hours away.
