For Shawna Stillwell and a fellow community volunteer
This fundraiser is for Shawna Stillwell and another community volunteer after a serious crash left both of their vehicles totaled. This afternoon, while monitoring ICE activity in their community, an out-of-state Subaru with Utah plates was reportedly driving erratically and set off the chain of events that caused the two volunteers to collide while trying to avoid a crash. The third vehicle left the scene. Everyone is physically okay, and that is something to be deeply grateful for, but the financial impact has been immediate and overwhelming. Shawna only carries liability insurance, so there is no clear path to recovering the loss of the wrecked vehicle through that policy alone. Both volunteers were simply trying to show up for their community, and now they are facing enormous personal costs they cannot absorb by themselves.
Funds raised here will help cover immediate crash-related expenses, temporary transportation, urgent bills, and the cost of helping both volunteers get back on their feet. Both volunteers need new transportation for work as soon as possible. Shawna especially needs reliable transportation beginning Monday in order to return to work delivering pizzas Sunday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The fundraiser will also help Shawna manage the $4,500 debt still owed to a friend for the wrecked Hyundai Ioniq and support efforts to secure a dependable replacement vehicle. Shawna also has a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins diesel with a fifth-wheel hitch that they are willing to sell or trade for a reliable hybrid, and the truck has $404 in back registration fees due. Shawna is asking for practical mutual aid in any form: a donation, a vehicle loan, help arranging a trade, or connections to transportation assistance. Any support will make a real difference as Shawna and this fellow volunteer work through what comes next.
