My name is Betty, and I’m reaching out for help to save my son, Shawn Williams. Shawn is 46 years old and has been battling severe liver disease for the past year. He lost his job soon after becoming ill and has been unable to work since. Our family has already faced unimaginable loss, having lost our youngest son four years ago, and I can’t bear the thought of losing Shawn too. He shares joint custody of his 8-year-old daughter, Khloe, and has moved back in with us so we can help care for both of them. Shawn and Khloe have always been close—before he became so sick, they loved spending time at the movies, bowling, and enjoying the beach together. Shawn also enjoys golf and surfing, but his greatest joy is being a devoted father to Khloe.
Shawn’s health has forced us to travel over six hours each way to a transplant center every few months, and he’s been in and out of the hospital locally as well. Unfortunately, the first clinic he visited decided he didn’t meet their criteria for a transplant, so we’re now working with his local doctors to find another center that can help. The costs of travel, hotels, and ongoing medical care have quickly drained Shawn’s savings, and my husband and I—both in our seventies and facing our own health challenges—are doing everything we can to support him. My husband recently finished radiation treatment for cancer, and I’ve spent months in the hospital myself due to blood clots and heart problems. Despite these hardships, our family remains strong and supportive, but we are struggling to keep up with the mounting expenses.
We are asking for help to cover Shawn’s medical bills, travel expenses, and the cost of his medications. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference in helping Shawn get the care he needs and give him more time with Khloe. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers, and thank you for considering a donation to support Shawn’s fight for life.
