Help Shawn Overcome Medical Challenges

Dear Family and Friends,
*warning graphic pictures*

My brother, Shawn Levasseur, has been diagnosed with Compartment Syndrome in his right leg. On his second visit to the emergency room, due to a fall down the stairs, he was rushed in for an emergency surgery on his leg and the diagnosis was made. His kidneys were staring to fail and he was also diagnosed with cellulitis causing his right arm to swell. Once we found out the severity of this condition our mother took the first flight out from Arizona to Connecticut to be with him. He was in the hospital for 10 days to try and control the swelling in his arm, leg, and get his kidneys functioning correctly. During this hospitalization, they were able to bring the swelling in his arm down and get his kidneys back to normal function. But the muscle and nerves in his leg leading down to his foot continue to die.

He is now paralyzed from the ankle down into his right leg/foot. Long term he will have to wear a brace for his foot drop. He was discharged from the hospital but still has a large open wound in this shin area connecting to a wound vac. Currently both Shawn and our mother are staying with family while he tries to heal and is still being monitored by a nurse several times a week.

He is immobilized with a wound vac for at least the next month. Shawn is unable to work at this time and although our mother is trying to work from home out of families house and taking care of Shawn it is still not enough. They are both acquiring a lot of expenses during this time due to the medical visits, ambulance trips, hospital stays, surgeries, lack of work, and so much more.

UPDATE: As of 4/24 Shawn is back in the hospital with an infection that has turned septic. He went back to the ER as soon as he spiked a fever so it was caught early but he's not in good shape. They have moved up his third debridement surgery (they scrape out all of the dead muscle tissue) to this afternoon. The surgeon will then be able to assess how his neurosis is doing.
