The incision got an infection called Cellulitis. It is a very SERIOUS infection and can go south FAST! She was able to get into an ER and get started on a very strong antibiotic but that was more money as this family won’t have health insurance until 2/1/2026.

Shawn is a 25-year-old facing an urgent and overwhelming financial crisis while caring for his mother. Life changed suddenly when Shawn was diagnosed with severe gastroparesis, a serious and debilitating condition that has left him unable to work or maintain a stable income. The diagnosis came unexpectedly and drastically altered his ability to support himself and his household.

In addition to Shawn’s health struggles, his mother — who has already survived three strokes — recently underwent a major surgery and is still in recovery. She requires ongoing daily care and assistance, which Shawn provides. After her medical emergencies, Shawn opened his home to her to ensure she had a safe place to recover and wouldn’t be left without support. Shawn’s mother is currently in the process of applying for Social Security Disability benefits, but as many families know, the process is lengthy and those benefits have not yet begun.

The most immediate and critical concern is rent, which is due soon. With no income coming in and disability benefits still pending, eviction is a very real and immediate threat. In addition to rent, funds are urgently needed for utilities, medical visits, and necessary prescriptions to keep Shawn and his mother safe and healthy during this difficult time. Losing their home during such serious medical recovery would be devastating. This family is not asking for help lightly. They have reached a point where there are no remaining options, and time is running out.
