Help Shawn & Husband Avoid Eviction

My name is Shawn, and I’m reaching out for support as my husband and I face a very difficult time. I have been diagnosed with vulvar cancer caused by HPV, and the treatments and multiple surgeries have left me unable to work. I can’t sit or stand for long periods, which makes it impossible to hold a job. My husband, who retired early at 62 due to Parkinson’s disease, has been my main caregiver. While his retirement has allowed him to help me day-to-day, it doesn’t cover all of our expenses.

For informational purposes, I want to share that HPV cancers do not always target the internal organs of a female, nor do they target females only. I have HPV 16 & 18, which has affected my external female parts and is now encroaching on my anal area. I have already lost my clitoris and vulvar tissue, and now must sit directly on my urethra and vaginal opening. The HPV shots were not available when I was younger and making poor decisions about my sexual health, but I firmly believe that this has been put in my path to help educate others. I am not advocating for the shots; only education. I did not anticipate still having to go through pain and surgeries, and because this is a virus, there is only management, not a cure.

We are struggling to keep up with medical bills and the basic costs of living, like rent and utilities. Right now, we are a month and a half behind on rent and are facing the real threat of eviction. We’ve already had to voluntarily give up our car because we couldn’t keep up with the payments, and the vehicle we have left needs repairs we can’t afford. The stress of these financial burdens, on top of my ongoing cancer treatments, has been overwhelming for both of us.

We’re asking for help to cover our most urgent needs—keeping a roof over our heads, paying for utilities, and managing medical bills. Any support will help us get through this incredibly tough period and focus on my recovery. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any help you can give.
