My name is Shawn and I have been diagnosed with Stage III Synovial Sarcoma, a rare soft-tissue cancer that is aggressive and fast-growing. I am a Special Education teacher who instructs a group of very sweet Pre-K and Kindergarten students with autism here in my hometown of New Orleans. I require multiple months of chemotherapy and radiation treatment as well as a significant surgery. These treatments will keep me away from work for an extended period of time, which will put a inordinate strain on my income. My family and I would appreciate any support as I fight to become free of this cancer.
As I receive donations, I am overwhelmed with emotion as the amount of support is so surprising. I truly feel like George Bailey at the end of “It’s a Wonderful Life.” I am so fortunate to have people in my life that support me. I want to thank each one individually, but I don’t have contact information for everyone. If I cannot reach you, please know that I am eternally grateful for your donation.
