My name is Shawn, and I am currently battling stage 4 colon cancer. Life has been incredibly challenging as I try to manage my health while raising my older brother's daughter. Reliable transportation has become a major obstacle for us. I often struggle to find rides to my doctor appointments and chemotherapy sessions, and sometimes I have no choice but to miss them. Missing these treatments is starting to seriously affect my health, and I worry about what the future holds for both me and my niece.

On top of my medical needs, I want to be there for my niece as much as possible. She is involved in choir and often stays after school for practice or concerts. Without a car, it’s hard to make sure she can participate in the activities she loves. We also face challenges getting groceries and other essentials, especially since most of my disability check goes toward rent. There have been months when I could barely afford food or basic necessities.

Having a car or SUV would make a world of difference for us. It would mean I could get to my treatments on time, take care of my health, and support my niece in her activities. I am reaching out for help because I want to keep fighting my illness and provide a stable, loving home for my niece.
