In September 2025, our dad was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. By Thanksgiving, he was paralyzed and moved to a rehab facility, where he passed away in January 2026. Just days later, our mom was hospitalized with a kidney stone. Grieving the loss of her husband of nearly 60 years, she removed herself from the liver transplant list and stopped taking her medication. This led to further health complications, and she is now in hospice in-patient care.
My brother Shawn and I have been blindsided by these events. We’ve had to manage our parents’ mortgage, truck payments, and other bills, all while trying to find care for our mom and get their bank account unfrozen. The bank froze their account without notice, leaving us scrambling to pay bills and access back pay from SSI, refunds, and pension checks. With our own families and responsibilities, it’s been overwhelming, and we haven’t had a real chance to grieve.
We’re reaching out for help to cover all expenses and get the bills current. Your support will also help Shawn and I continue to carry out our dad and mom’s dreams of passing down their house and truck to the next generation. Any help will be deeply appreciated by Shawn, Dana, Kaden (KC), Keilah, and Liam. Anyone who knows our family knows we’re close and loving. We don’t judge, we don’t hide, and we’re not ashamed of who we are. We’ve faced many trials and tribulations but never turned our backs on each other. If you want to and can help, no matter the form, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We didn’t want to have to ask for help, but this situation has overwhelmed us. Thank you for any and all love, hugs, prayers, and help.
