My name is Shaun. I've recently endured a life-threatening accident where I broke my heel, ankle, shin bones, knee, femur, and hip. I spent 11 months in the hospital, largely due to inability to heal bones because of a pituitary tumor. I've lost my housing, being unable to work. My vehicle was destroyed also. My surgeon saw a little hope in saving my leg and ultimately wanted to amputate it at the hip. Since then I have exerted myself in rehabilitation efforts, struggled in wheelchairs, walkers, now crutches. I've been approved for supplemental social security income which is based on your living environment, rent, and other criteria. It's not much to survive on, especially when your wife is also living on disability income. I'm striving to regain my life back. It's a test of my internal fortitude, but I refuse to give up. People rely on me. I've failed often in life and now I'm determined to prevail. My goal is to eventually learn a new trade since I can never perform manual labor again. I want to purchase an inexpensive vehicle. My wife deserves the best in life. I believe that if a multitude of people help me on a very small scale, I can obtain the required monetary goal. I'm also convinced that most people can relate to starting over in life and we are all deserving of second chances. I've always felt that if we all contribute a small fraction for a common cause the world can be a better place; happier, more functional, at peace, and achieve some sort of success through this collective togetherness.
