I’m reaching out to you today with a heartfelt plea on behalf of my brother, Shaun, who is going through an incredibly difficult time due to his ongoing mental health challenges. Shaun has been living with schizophrenia for several years, and more recently, he developed Tardive Dyskinesia, a neurological disorder caused by long-term medication use. These two conditions have made it impossible for him to work, and he is now struggling to cover basic living expenses while waiting for Social Security Disability benefits to be approved.

### Shaun’s Struggles with Schizophrenia and Tardive Dyskinesia

Shaun has always been a hardworking, independent person. However, living with schizophrenia has taken a heavy toll on his ability to manage daily tasks or maintain steady employment. The symptoms—such as delusions, hallucinations, and cognitive struggles—have made it impossible for him to live a normal, productive life. Recently, as a result of the antipsychotic medications prescribed to manage his schizophrenia, Shaun developed Tardive Dyskinesia. This neurological disorder causes involuntary movements, further complicating his physical and emotional well-being.

The combination of these challenges has left Shaun unable to work, and the constant struggle with his health has made it difficult for him to manage even basic day-to-day activities. Shaun has been hospitalized multiple times as doctors work to adjust his treatment plan, but without a stable income and while waiting for his Social Security Disability claim to be processed—something that can take many months—he is struggling to make ends meet.

### The Urgency of Shaun’s Situation

To make matters even more difficult, Shaun has received shutoff notices for his utilities and is now at risk of eviction due to falling behind on rent. The stress of these looming threats is only adding to the mental and emotional toll his conditions have already taken on him. Without help, Shaun faces the real possibility of losing his home and essential services like electricity and water.
