Shaun has been living with Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1) since he was young—a genetic condition that causes tumors to grow along nerves. Despite this, he has always faced life with strength, resilience, and a positive spirit.
In the last few months, his condition has worsened significantly. Shaun has lost mobility in his hand and arm and is living with constant, severe pain. Because of this, he has had to stop working, which has created a significant financial strain on him and his family.
Last week, Shaun received devastating news. Two of his tumors have developed into malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors (MPNST), a rare and aggressive form of cancer.
He is now preparing for a very risky two-part surgery. While this procedure is not guaranteed to be a cure, it offers hope—hope for more time, relief from pain, and more moments with the people who love him.
If the surgery is successful, Shaun will face a long and challenging road ahead. He will require extensive rehabilitation and will need to learn to adapt to a new way of living due to the loss of mobility in his arm, hand, and neck.
While medical treatment is covered through Canada’s healthcare system, the financial impact of Shaun’s condition is significant. Being unable to work, along with ongoing recovery, rehabilitation needs, possible therapies, transportation, and daily living expenses, has created a growing burden.
We are asking for your support to help ease this financial pressure so Shaun can focus on what truly matters—his surgery, recovery, and adjusting to this new reality.
Every donation, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference. If you’re unable to contribute, sharing this page would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
