As we are in the midst of another polarizing election year, we can’t forget the ongoing events happening outside our country. Genocides in Palestine, Haiti, Sudan, Congo. Your activism and care for humanity is not limited to a single vote. You can make changes now and give money where it is needed. I am working with a group of people to raise funds for families in Gaza and I was connected with Shaza Mohammed who I am now raising funds for.

Here are her words (mix of Arabic and English that I translated and put together):

I am 23 years old, mother of two children, domestic abuse survivor. The Zionist occupation targeted our house and martyred members of my family. We fled to Khan Younis to stay with our relatives and the Israel Occupation Forces (IOF), entered without warning, planes spread everywhere, and tanks and shells entered randomly. We miraculously fled the place without any clothes, food or bedding. Then to Deir al-Balah, to areas considered safe, and the occupation made us evacuate it immediately, then we fled to Al-Mawasi of Khan Yunis, here too, the occupation entered with tanks and targeted us directly. My parents were martyred, and I am now suffering, I do not have money for my children and brothers.

I want to get out of Gaza to save my young son. He has rickets in his feet and needs an operation outside Gaza. I'm scared. I don't want to lose my children like I lost my mother and dad. Winter is coming and we don't have clothes to warm up. Here we are displaced to tents and life is very tragic. A life of lack of water and food, the scorching sun, harmful insects and environmental pollution. There are no basic necessities of life. There is no cooking gas and we replace it with cooking on fire using wood and paper. Here I suffer from a health condition that I cannot tolerate smoke.
