Help Sharon keep SanJuanIslander going

SanJuanIslander.com has provided daily news coverage of the San Juan Islands for more than 25 years. In the beginning - the good old days - advertising on media websites was popular and the revenue supported a variety of local media.

Well, that was then. Now we're competing with social media, ads on Facebook, Instagram, etc. The fact that all of those options have a large but limited audience doesn't seem to matter.

San Juan Islander is open to everyone. No pay walls, no membership needed.

The solutions I'm pursuing include joining a new nationwide group that has more than 700 local news sites. It provides a way for businesses to purchase advertising that will be seen nationwide.

Another avenue I'm pursing is following the expert advice about the latest in search engine optimization and the most effective ways to increase traffic from my youngest brother. He is a Director of Engineering at an international company and has sent me a lengthy list of solid advice.

In the meantime, any donations will help keep the lights on. They will also help me pay for the technical help needed to update the website with a new theme and organization.
