Dear Family and Friends,
I have been living with a disease called sarcoidosis for over 40 years, which has mainly impacted my lungs and pulmonary function. In addition to having sarcoidosis, 18 months ago I also developed an infection in my lungs. I've been getting treatment locally and my condition has not improved but has gotten worse resulting in me being hospitalized three times. According to my pulmonary doctor (Dr. Choudry), I need a more specialized team that can manage and care for my complicated case.
My Infectious Disease doctor (Dr Zachariah) referred me to the National Jewish Health Hospital in Denver, Colorado which is the leading respiratory hospital in the country and offers treatment and research for pulmonary and immune related conditions. After a lengthy application process, I was finally accepted into the program. This medical service is expensive and my health insurance does not cover the total cost.
I am scheduled to be at the hospital for outpatient testing and treatment for eleven days starting on January 23, 2023. The goal of the visit and treatment is to improve my lung function which will help improve my overall health and quality of life.
I am a senior citizen on a fixed income, with limited financial resources. Several of you have expressed an interest in contributing, so this page was created to simplify the process for anyone wishing to donate. All donated funds will be used towards my co-pays for treatment at the hospital, and expenses that I'll incur for the eleven days that I'll need to be in Denver.
I appreciate each of you and thank you in advance for any contributions that you are able to make.
Love,
Sharon (Skipper) Patterson
