Support Sharon and Max ❤️
If you know Sharon Zinns, you know she’s the first person to show up for others. Whether it’s organizing a holiday or Shabbat meal, volunteering at Max's school, or quietly offering help when someone’s struggling — Sharon gives her whole heart to everyone around her. She provides a community for so many of us, and it's critical now that we are a community for her.
Sharon’s daughter, Max, has been bravely battling PANDAS/PANS, a rare and devastating neuroimmune disorder that causes sudden, severe changes in behavior, mood, and physical health. One day, Max might seem like herself — the bright, funny, amazing kid we all adore — and the next, her body and mind are overtaken by symptoms that no child should have to face.
Sharon has fought for years to get answers, find the right doctors, and manage a treatment plan that helps Max heal. She does it all with grace, courage, and determination — but it comes at an unimaginable emotional and financial cost. Max’s medical care now exceeds $8,000 every month, and is not covered by insurance. A tireless advocate, Sharon is battling her insurance provider in the court system while also lobbying GA State Legislature to recognize this debilitating condition and push for insurance coverage.
It's likely you didn't know Sharon was bearing this all because she never asks for help. She also does everything in her power to shield Max from seeing the toll this has taken on her as a mother. Even with everything she’s carrying, Sharon continues to show up for others — to listen, to help, to give. She never asks for anything in return. But now, she needs her community.
We’re coming together to help lift the enormous financial weight off Sharon’s shoulders so she can focus on what matters most: helping Max get better. Every dollar donated goes directly toward Max’s medical treatments, therapies, and care.
