My name is Sharolyn Hudson, and I’ve spent my life working hard to support myself and my family. On October 26, 2025, my world changed in an instant. I started my day like any other, heading to my job at Waffle House #162. By the afternoon, I was hit with a headache that wouldn’t go away, and I ended up in the emergency room. After a long wait, I was transferred to Emory Hospital in Atlanta, where doctors discovered a tumor in my brain. I underwent emergency surgery, and it took 26 staples to close the incision. Just days later, I was sent home to begin the long process of healing.
As if that wasn’t enough, doctors also found a mass on my left lung. Right now, my focus is on recovering from brain surgery, but I know more treatment is ahead. Because of all this, I can’t work, and I don’t know when I’ll be able to return. I’ve applied for disability, but the process is slow and uncertain. In the meantime, I’m facing homelessness with no income, and my daughter and her two children are doing everything they can to help us find a place to live. The bills are piling up, and I’m struggling to cover daily expenses, food, housing, and medical costs. My car also needs repairs, which makes everything even harder.
I never imagined I’d be in this position, but I have no other options right now. I’m asking for any help you can give—no amount is too small. Your support will help me and my family get through this difficult time, and I’m determined to beat cancer and get back to work as soon as I can. Thank you for reading my story and for any kindness you can share.
