I am a type 1 diabetic for the last 37 years. Over the last two years, my diabetes sure has been winning these battles in life. In 2008, I became legally blind; in 2023, my stomach was failing due to my diabetes; I've had a total of 5 surgeries on my left foot and leg and last week, I lost my leg due to diabetes. After getting off the phone with Medicare, my insurance will only cover 80% of the prosthetic. So, I'm looking for help. The average prosthetic leg is $12,000 to $40,000. I know I am about 6 millionths away from getting the prosthetic, and I plan to save what I can. However, I'm also on short-term disability that is only 60% of my normal paycheck.
