On a day that changed everything, the devastating wildfires that swept through Pacific Palisades claimed the home of Sharlot, Len, their young daughter Sophia, and bulldog puppy Louis. In mere hours, the flames consumed not just their house, but years of dreams, memories, and the foundation they had worked so hard to build.
Their story is deeply rooted in the American dream. Sharlot's family found refuge in America after fleeing Iran, settling in Woodland Hills where she grew up learning the values of perseverance and hope. Similarly, Len's parents sought freedom from the Soviet Union, building a new life in Chicago where they raised him with an unwavering work ethic and determination.
When Len's move to Los Angeles led him to Sharlot, they embodied the aspirations of their immigrant parents. As first-generation college graduates in their families, they achieved what seemed impossible to their parents – buying their own home in Pacific Palisades through years of dedication and hard work.
The road ahead is challenging. While navigating the complex and often years-long process of insurance claims, they must continue paying the mortgage on their destroyed home. At the same time, they face the immediate need to restart their daily lives from the ground up.
Your support will help with:
- Essential household items
- Clothing for the entire family
- Basic kitchen supplies
- Temporary housing needs
- Ongoing expenses during insurance negotiations
The fire took their home and possessions, but it cannot take their resilience. With your help, we can support Sharlot, Len, and little Sophia as they begin to rebuild their American dream.
