On 02/10/2026, our lives changed unexpectedly when Sharissa, a dedicated college student at Northwestern State University, who is studying to become a veterinarian, was hit by a truck while walking to work, crossing the crosswalk near campus. What should have been a normal day quickly turned into a medical emergency.

Current Condition

Sharissa suffered broken bones, a head injury, surgery, etc., and is currently in the hospital in recovery. Doctors say recovery will take weeks/months, and there is a long road ahead that includes medical treatment.

As a full-time student, Sharissa does not have the financial resources to cover:

• Emergency room and hospital bills

• Surgery and medical procedures

• Physical therapy and rehabilitation

• Medications

• Missed work/income

• Tuition and living expenses during recovery

The financial burden is overwhelming, and the focus right now needs to be on healing — not bills.
