Shari is the kind of person who has always put her family first. Nearing retirement, she works hard every day to support her husband, who is living with MS, and her son, who has finished college and is still living at home. She’s the backbone of her family, always making sure everyone is cared for, even when times are tough.
Recently, her family's world has been turned into a living nightmare. After graduating college, her son tried to find a job in his field, but was unable to do so, as everyone wanted at least a year or two of experience. Finally, after a seven month search and hundreds of applications, he was interviewed and hired to work as a shipping manager. Unbeknownst to him, the company he was working for was under investigation for illegal drug distribution. While he innocently went about doing his job, right before Labor Day he was swept up in a police sting operation and thrown into jail! It was terrifying. As an Eagle Scout, her son strives to live his life with integrity, and he has never been in trouble before. Now he is facing a serious legal situation - The family is devastated by the threat of him spending the rest of his life in jail for simply getting the wrong job.
They have hired a defense attorney to help them, but this whole process is very expensive and overwhelming. Shari is going to need to drain their savings account, draw from her retirement funds, and faces the heartbreaking possibility of needing to put their home up as collateral just to make sure her son has a fair and fighting chance for justice. The legal system does not work like we see on TV. Innocent people are not simply released after a conversation with the detectives. Instead, each agonizing step is a slow process where the prosecution makes all of the rules until the defense finally gets to talk. Shari and her family are bravely taking each day one at a time, while living on this emotional rollercoaster until the time comes when their son is proven innocent of all charges. She worries every day about the outcome, the financial expenses of this terrible situation, and the toll it is taking on her family.
We are reaching out for help so Shari and her family will not be forced to sacrifice everything they have worked so hard for. Every contribution will go directly toward legal fees and any associated costs to fighting for her son's life. Your support would mean the world to all of us and we’d be forever grateful for any help you can give.
