Help Share the Weight of Her World

Hi. My name is Adam and for years and years I have watched my sister, Heather Lameda, one of the most beautiful souls I have had the pleasure of knowing, constantly struggle with so many hurdles life can offer her all while keeping a smile on her face in spite of it.
Heather is a woman who selflessly seeks to put smiles on the faces of everyone she knows and aiding everyone where she can even when she struggles to see such helping hands, herself. While worrying about others, she has silently dealt with infertility for 10+ years. This stress aided in stress that saw weight gain and lowered self-confidence. Earlier this year, she was introduced to weight-lifting, which she has turned to love and saw 60 lbs lost and a new-found joy…only to be met with a diagnosis of thyroid cancer and a thyroidectomy, and today a round of chemo therapy.
From her FaceBook today:
Goooood mernin'!
Today's kind of a big day. One that I've debated even sharing because "things could be worse". Back in April they found a nodule on my thyroid. Long story short, our journey to get healthy and start a family took a quick turn and now we're dealing with something much different: thyroid cancer. In September I had a complete thyroidectomy and today I take a hefty little radiation pill.
It's been an interesting journey and has often times felt incredibly lonely. What I find even more sad is that I've often felt that I couldn't or shouldn't talk about it because there are people struggling with much worse or that others are going through their own stuff and I've felt that I don't need to add my stuff on top of theirs. I've also felt this way in our struggle with infertility... And all that this "it could be worse" thinking, which is ironically supposed to assist you in finding gratitude for the good things, has done is resulted in sadness and loneliness.
So, there it is. Infertility. Cancer. And feeling like you have to minimize your journey because it "could be worse". It could be better. It WILL be better. And there are listening ears- or reading eyes?- in this world who are ready and waiting to help carry some of the weight when life feels too heavy. Myself included.
Love ya, my peeps. Go kick today's .
I’ve never used one of these before, but hoping some out there can help me show this beautiful soul that there are indeed hands out there willing to share the weight of burdens out there. Any bit would help and so much love to all willing to keep her smiling. Thank you and God Bless.
