Law School with Your Gurl, Shar!
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Shar —a mother, a survivor, a first-generation college graduate, and a future attorney with a mission to serve!
After more than three decades of detours filled with caregiving, chronic illness, and resilience, I’ve finally been accepted to law school and am set to begin this fall. This moment is more than just a personal milestone—it’s the continuation of a calling rooted in justice, advocacy, and transformation.
But I need your help to pull this thing together!
With your support, I was able to secure my seat and begin this journey. As someone navigating the aftermath of a high-conflict divorce, financial abuse, and ongoing health recovery, being able to meet those deadlines was a dream come true.
Why This Means So Much...
Over the past few years, I’ve faced:
A few cancer diagnoses
The loss of financial and medical stability
Raising three minor children as a single-married parent #iykyk (but, a part of me hopes that you will never have know)
Returning to school and graduating with honors (3.895 GPA) from UNLV while being awarded merit-based scholarships and fellowships at my big age
Continuing to fight for and create safe spaces for my family, my peace, and my purpose
And still, I live. I survived, and I will thrive.
Law school is not just a dream—it’s a next step in a life built around advocacy and growth. I want to become a legal voice for survivors of domestic and psychological violence, families in crisis, and communities often pushed to the margins. Your support is an investment in that mission. A mission that seeks to pursue proactive and transformative legislation, policy, and statutes. The kind that has grown to meet us where we need it the most.
How You Can Help...
$5, $10, $25—anything helps.
Sharing this campaign with your circle can go even further.
Encouragement, prayers, and messages are always welcome.
All funds raised will go directly towards the day-to-day expenses of living this reality as a law student and single mom. Anything beyond that will help cover transition expenses (travel, books, bar prep savings, and technology needs for 1L).
I know times are hard, and I never take support for granted. If you’ve read this far, thank you—for your time, your belief, and your love. All it took was one university saying yes to change the entire landscape and trajectory of my life!!! If it happened for me, there is no thing out of reach for any of us.
With gratitude,
Shar, Lawyer-in-training
