Hi, my name is Shantiea (Tia) Dorhan, and I’m humbly reaching out for support after experiencing a devastating event.
Just two years ago, I purchased my very first home—a milestone I was incredibly proud of as a 38-year-old single mother. It was more than just a house; it was a symbol of stability, independence, and the promise of a better future for me and my son. It means everything to me.
On April 11, 2025 a fire caused significant damage to my home, destroying my gas lines and damaging the water pipes. While I am grateful that my house is still standing and technically livable, it is not functional. I can’t use basic utilities, and essential repairs are needed before it can truly feel like home again.
The fire department has informed me that my homeowners insurance may not cover the damages —and even if it does, the deductible is more than I can afford. I’m now facing an overwhelming financial burden that I never saw coming.
I’m doing my best to stay strong, but I need help to make my home safe and functional again. Your support—whether through a donation or simply sharing my story—would mean the world to me and my family. Every bit of help brings me closer to restoring the home I’ve worked so hard to build.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and generosity.
With love and gratitude,
Tia D.
