My name is Shanta Jones, and I am reaching out for help as my children and I fight to reclaim our lives. The past year has been a series of immense challenges. Just over a year ago, I fought the hardest battle of my life: recovering from a stroke and brain surgery. While I am a survivor, that journey was only the beginning.
While still healing physically, I had to make the hardest decision of my life for our safety. Recently, my children and I navigated a painful separation and a significant loss that forced us to completely rebuild our lives from the ground up. When we left, we started from scratch—taking nothing but our clothes and leaving everything else behind. We chose a fresh start for our freedom and peace, but the road has been incredibly steep.
While we are focused on healing and stability, an unexpected crisis has hit us. My only car has suffered a transmission failure.
As a stroke and brain surgery survivor, reliable transportation isn't just a convenience—it is my lifeline. Without a working vehicle, I am unable to attend my essential follow-up medical and therapy appointments as well as get my kids to school, their activities and keep our daily lives stable.
This repair is about more than just a car. It is the bridge between our current struggles and the stable, safe life I am trying to build for my family. After surviving a stroke, brain surgery, domestic violence and leaving everything behind to start over, I am doing everything I possibly can to keep us moving forward.
How You Can Help
I never imagined I would be in this position, but I have reached a point where I cannot carry this financial burden alone.
Any contribution—no matter the size—will go directly toward getting our car back on the road and keeping our family safe. If you aren’t able to donate, simply sharing our story with your community would mean the world to us.
Thank you for your compassion, your kindness, and for helping us protect our hard-earned fresh start.
