Hello everyone,
my name is Shanta Jones. On January 30th I was sitting in my living room looking at my phone whilst the house was settling. Suddenly I felt a pop in the top of the left side of my head and a hot trickle down my face. My jaw and the entire left side of my face started drooping. I yelled for my youngest son to wake his father up to let him know I had just had a stroke.
I was rushed to the hospital where I was evaluated for stroke protocol. I was completely anxious and uneasy. After all the testing and scans, not only did I have a minor stroke but I was told I had a golf ball size tumor in my Pituitary Gland located at the front of my brain that needed to be removed immediately. I was terrified. They told me if the tumor was not removed I could go blind and there is a very small chance even if the tumor is removed it can still cause some blindness, hearing loss and disruption to cognitive functioning because of where the tumor sits.
I am a working woman that works very hard for my family. I was told that I will have to take 6-8 weeks off from work and need aftercare assistance following surgery. As u can imagine this was stressful and startling news. I have to provide for my children while I am off. No one expects to have to take off work for 6-8 weeks. I wasn’t prepared for that.
If u are willing to help a family and ur friend in need please donate. I sincerely appreciate you. If ur unable to donate, please share my story either way. I’m extremely humbled and grateful. For those that know me, I am a friend or a smiling face. Maybe an old classmate or acquaintance. Thank you for reading my story.
