Help Shannon with her medical expenses
Hello my name is Yvette and on behalf of family and friends I am fundraising for Shannon Gilbreath and her family.
Shannon Gilbreath has been fighting cancer since 2013. Shannon is a wife, a mother of three, an educator and a friend to many. She has shown tremendous strength though out her three and now fourth cancer diagnosis, and she will continue to persevere. While receiving radiation and chemo treatments over the past eight years, Shannon has taught kindergarten, first and third graders at Oak View Elementary, coached soccer, and raised her own small children. Unfortunately, a recurrence has taken place this June.
Shannon's breast cancer was first diagnosed in January, 2013. She underwent chemo and mastectomy at that time. The second occurrence of breast cancer in 2016 prompted more radiation and chemo. In March of 2019, a malignant tumor was discovered on Shannon's hip, and she was treated with chemotherapy for seven months.
On June5th, she suffered from two unexpected seizures. She was admitted to Lodi Memorial hospital then quickly transferred to San Francisco which led to the discovery of 10 tumors in her brain and a spot on her spine. Shannon's doctor began radiation treatment immediately, and they are hopeful that the treatment will stop the spread of the cancerous cells.
Shannon's positive attitude, stubbornness, and strength to fight and overcome her battle with cancer is an inspiration. Shannon persevered and continued teaching through the illness and treatments these last eight years. Shannon has now been advised by her doctors to take a leave of absence to rest and heal. She and her family have made the difficult decision to take a year off from teaching. Therefore, we kindly ask that you support her with a donation that will be used to towards healthcare coverage. Your generous support will help Shannon receive the treatments and medication needed to keep the cancer at bay.
Thank you!
