My name is Ashton (Sacramento, CA), and I am Shannon O'Connor's (South Lake Tahoe, CA) son. I am raising money to help my mom stay off the streets during the Caldor Fire (any fraction of the fundraiser goal will be going towards putting her up in a better place to sleep, food, and anything else she may need to face in this unforeseeable future). She has no where else to go has been sent to Carson due to State Line being evacuated. As of this morning (8/31/21 at 9:00AM) she is staying in a tent on RV camp grounds. My mom has been homeless for a combined total of 10 years throughout her life, and I refuse to let this happen again to her. I don't want her to have to "shit in the woods again" as she puts it.
My mom collects SSDI and barely makes enough as it is to pay for the apartment she lived in at South Lake Tahoe, she has no way of collecting her SSDI/Retirement currently due to the fires.
Shannon has no other family, besides me, that she can rely on and I have no way of traveling up to her due to being cut off from the fires. So I am asking for any kind of financial help so she can be somewhat comfortable during these times. I told her that I will be starting a Gofundme page for her and she asked me why anyone would care about her because no one knows her. I want to change that, even if I raise 20 bucks it would help me show her people do care and that there is good in the world.
I don't expect to come close to 3,000 but even a third of that amount is life changing for someone like my mom.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and may God bless you.
Sincerely,
Ashton D. Bohm
