My friend, Shannon Rose, is having surgery at this moment to amputate her arm due to infection. She was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (brittle bone disease) and she needs our help desperately.   She has had one bad break (both literally and figuratively) after another, the most recent one was this past New Year's Eve when she simply tripped while walking her pup, Fawna, and broke an ankle on one leg and her knee cap on the other.  Her arm that is being amputated today was the result of a fall in 2010, that shattered her elbow. Since that time, she has had over 25 surgeries on that one arm alone and it has been in a hard cast every since I have known her (when her nephew, Dameon, was on our Plantation Wildcats' football team).  Recently, a nasty infection invaded her arm and although her wonderful team of doctors were unable to get rid of it, the arm has to go to save the rest of her.  Despite all of the constant set-backs in her health, Shannon has continued to maintain positivity and would nothing more than to get back to her "regular" life - substituting teaching in the Broward County School system, where she has kept in contact with many of her students throughout their schools by going to their athletic events to root them on.  Shannon faces a ton of rehab after today, and and while a prosthetic arm is a long way off, I am asking for any donation that you can spare to help defray this super large expense, which is not considered a "medical necessity" by most insurances.  As a young woman with a lot of real-life things to be worried about, all she is worried about it is her students and desperately hopes that they will not be scared of her with only one arm.    Thank you very much for reading this and please keep Shannon in your prayers.
