Help Shannon Rebuild After Life's Storms

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to consider helping me. My name is Shannon and we live in Katy, Texas. I am blessed to be the mother of two beautiful children and honored that I am your friend, neighbor, and member of the community.

After being assaulted two years ago I have faced many challenges. The first was recovering from the assault where a 14 inch piece of glass sliced vertically through my right leg and three disks in my neck and mid-back were damaged. I was unable to walk or bear weight on my right leg for months and went through almost a year of physical therapy. The second challenge began a year ago when the rug was pulled out from under my feet by the person, I trusted to be my husband and a dad to my son and daughter. Since then life has become a whirlwind trying to find a job, secure housing and get a lawyer when I received a petition for divorce this past Thanksgiving.

Life continues to give me plenty of opportunities to rise to the occasion by presenting more challenges while I struggle to get on my feet. I got a job that I was more than thrilled about and I thought was the answer to my prayers. Then the Derecho Storm hit the Houston area which let us without power for 7 nights.

Seven weeks into the onboarding process there was a force reduction because one of the company’s largest clients went bankrupt. I was let go the day after we moved into our new apartment earlier this month. Hurricane Beryl hit Houston and the surrounding areas adding to my growing list of opportunities and life decided to garnish my full plate when I was cut off and hit by another driver. Thankfully, everyone involved was okay. I was able to get a rental car and I start my new job in a few weeks!

I have filed with FEMA, Texas Health and Human Services, and am selling my potentially valuable things such as hand bags, antiques, etc. The state and FEMA say it will be up to 60 days before they complete my cases. In spite of my best efforts and willingness to work I am unable to make ends’ meet.

I have no living family to ask, so I very humbly ask for your help and thank you for reading this far!
