Help Shannon & Jacob Stay in Their Home

Hi everyone,

This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write, but I know the power of community, and right now, I’m asking for your help on behalf of someone who truly needs it—my friend and client, Shannon, and her 7-year-old son, Jacob.

A couple of years ago, Shannon was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Since then, her life has been a constant battle—not just with cancer, but with the devastating ripple effects it’s caused in every part of her life. She is still undergoing aggressive treatment, which continues to take a toll on her physically and medically. The side effects have been so severe that she can no longer work.

If that wasn't enough, Shannon is also the sole caregiver for her son, Jacob, who is severely autistic and requires round-the-clock care, patience, and love—something Shannon has always given him in abundance, even through her own suffering.

Before cancer, Shannon worked incredibly hard to turn her life around. She graduated from a local non-profit women’s shelter program and was given a home through Habitat for Humanity—a dream she worked tirelessly to achieve. But just months after her diagnosis, she was let go from her job at the very non-profit she once graduated from—due to frequent absences for chemotherapy.

Now, she’s at risk of losing the home she fought so hard to earn. With limited income and growing medical expenses, she’s barely able to keep up with the basic necessities she and Jacob need to survive.

I’ve done what I can behind the scenes to support them—but it’s not enough. So I’m reaching out to you—our community, friends, and anyone who can help ease this burden. Shannon has always fought for a better life for herself and her son. Now, she needs us to fight for her.
