I am Shanique Chung. I am from Jamaica. I am the mother of two beautiful boys, one eight and the other four months old. I was severely impacted by Hurricane Melissa, which devastated parts of the island. I never thought I would have to write something like this, but I am in dire need of assistance. The hurricane has turned our lives upside down. When the storm hit, our home was destroyed. We lost everything: all our furniture, appliances, food, clothing, and all the things that make our little house a home. It's been heartbreaking trying to comfort my older son while caring for my baby, not knowing how or where to start rebuilding. Right now, I'm doing my best to stay strong for them. We're trying to get back on our feet, but it's been really hard starting over with so little. I am asking for any help, no matter how small, to get us back into a safe place and replace the basic essentials we need to live. Your kindness and support mean more than words can say.
