This year has been devastating for our restaurant. Since March of 2020 when the pandemic hit we have been open and closed at least 5 times between the pandemic, extreme heat and even air quality due to the fires this summer.  We had only been open for 8 months when this all began. 

Building Shangri-la from an abandoned mortuary in our home town was a dream for us. We wanted to create a safe and beautiful space where everyone was welcome, food and cocktails were flowing and the amenities were plentiful.  In 2018, we took out a large SBA loan with our home as collateral to build one of the most beautiful patios in the Sacramento region and we created Shangri-la Fair Oaks.

Since last March, we have still been paying our loans, health insurance to staff and all the monthly utilities during all these months that we have been shuttered, but now there is nothing left.  We have applied for the second round of PPP funding, but we are in a holding pattern.  This latest storm decimated our patio and has added on to the financial burden this pandemic created. 

We are not comfortable asking for handouts - especially being a business, but after the requests and encouragement from friends, family, employees and neighbors, we have put our pride aside and are now asking for a little help and realize that this is the time that communities come together. 

We have been scrappy and have rebuilt each time, but this latest storm has done more damage than a few extra set of hands can help. This is a challenging time right now -  financial and emotional impacts are are high for so many of us.  All the kind words of love, strength and support mean the world to us, and it keeps us motivated to push through this latest set back.
