Greetings, I am Shanell Cochrane, the youngest of four children. My interests include learning, traveling, playing basketball, drawing, painting, listening to music, and spending time with my mom. I grew up in a single parent household with only my mom, who raised her four children with no outside financial support. This experience has taught me the value of hard work and perseverance and has instilled in me a strong sense of responsibility. Despite facing financial challenges, I have always been determined to pursue my education and career goals. I am driven by my ambition to make a positive impact in the world through my work as a lawyer, advocating for those who may not have a voice or the financial means to have excellent legal representation.
My next step after high school graduation is to attend the University of Tulsa, where I have been admitted to the Honors College and will have the opportunity to take advanced courses. I am passionate about pursuing a career in criminal law and have been recognized as a potential student for their accelerated Law Program. After I graduate from TU with a Bachelor’s of Science in Political Science, I plan to attend graduate school to obtain my Law Degree.
I have been accepted into a program at the University of Tulsa called JumpStart TU. This program gives selected students the opportunity to learn in a dynamic academic and cultural program that showcases the university’s commitment to global learning. I will embark on a one-week international adventure with the unique opportunity to explore the rich cultural tapestry of Siegen, Germany, and immerse myself in its diverse landscapes, history, and traditions. Siegen is a small university town situated in North Rhine-Westphalia, about 52 miles from Frankfort. We will stay near the University of Siegen Campus in a local hotel with TU staff and Faculty. While there we will also get the opportunity to travel to Bonn and Cologne. Siegen has various historical places, churches, and museums, such as the Oberes Schloss and Unteres Schloss. This small German city is also labeled the greenest German city with 60% of the land being wooded. Therefore, I will be able to experience both the natural scenes in Siegen as well as the city life. The travel cost includes airfare from Tulsa, accommodations, local transportation, all entrance fees and activities, three-day field experiences with the German partners, some meals, local guides, and travel insurance, in the amount of $4,900. I am writing all of this to ask if you would be able to make a monetary donation to help support me with the cost of attending! Any and all assistance is appreciated!
Thank you,
Shanell Cochrane
