My name is Shane Weller.

I was born with spina bifida and it wasn’t detected until I was 26 years old. I had 3 spinal cord surgeries and had only one issue: my right leg is totally numb from the surgery. But I had a great doctor who did that surgery. I had 17 years of a pretty good life. Then my spine gave out and I had to get a fusion at L4/L5 & S1. I was 45 years old at this time. I felt like my life was done. Now I have 2 legs I can’t feel. Unfortunately, I had the wrong doctor. I lost the feeling in my left leg and then the surgery caused my right knee to collapse, and I had 2 knee replacements. One year later, my hip took a turn for the worse, totally broke my hip, and I had to get a total replacement on the right side. And now my right knee needs to be replaced again. Now I have to wear these braces to walk. They are very expensive and I’m at a point where it’s almost impossible to afford them. I am very blessed that God gave me the ability to get around, but I need help with paying for my braces. It’s hard for me to ask for help and I know times are hard for everybody, and to even ask family or friend and total strangers to help out is very difficult and stressful. But yet humbling at the same time. Trust in the lord and not lean into your own understanding. Is becoming even clearer now. And I feel the love and support from everyone. So thank you again .
