Help Shane Ohrt get to the 2026 Winter Olympics

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Shane Ohrt, and I’m chasing one of the most thrilling dreams there is: representing Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Bobsled.
Three years ago, I was recruited from the world of track & field into bobsled—a sport that demands speed, power, courage, and absolute trust in your teammates. From the moment I stepped into the sled, I fell in love. The adrenaline, the speed, the camaraderie—bobsled lit a fire in me like nothing else ever has.
Since then, I’ve proudly competed for Team Canada on both national and international stages, including the World Cup circuit. But what you don’t see behind the medals and the maple leaf is the cost—financial, physical, and emotional—of being a Canadian athlete. Simply put: We get paid a very little amount that gets absorbed by the season. Most of us fund our training, travel, and team fees out of our own pockets. It’s a full time job, seeing little to no financial benefit.
The Crash That Almost Ended It All:
In December 2024, I was in a devastating bobsled crash. I broke multiple vertebrae and severed an artery in my back. It was a moment that ended my season—and almost ended my career.
It was a painful recovery, but I wasn’t done. Not even close.
With the support of my incredible teammates and an iron will to come back stronger, I put everything into my recovery. And now? I’m back. Better, faster, more determined than ever to represent Canada on the world’s biggest stage.
Why I Need Your Help:

To qualify and compete for the 2025/2026 season—and ultimately the Olympics—I need to raise $40,000. This will go toward:
• Training camps (including Whistler Camp)
• Team fees ($30,000)
• Equipment and sled costs
• Nutrition and recovery
Every dollar makes a difference. Whether you can give $10 or $1000, you’re becoming a part of this journey with me. You’re fueling an athlete who refuses to quit. Who came back from a brutal injury. Who believes in hard work, community, and the power of sport.
Be Part of the Ride:
If you've ever chased a dream, overcome the odds, or fought back when life knocked you down—then you’re already part of this story. Help me write the next chapter. Help me get to the Olympics.
Let’s do this together.
With gratitude and fire,
Shane Ohrt
