Help Shane Mattson battle Cancer

Donation protected
Hi, My name is Amanda Tran, working with Marilyn McDonald and Susan Bunce Jones we are fundraising for a close friend and coworker Shane Mattson who is just starting his battle with Stage 4 Cancer!

Shane Mattson, a 48 year old Manufacturing Engineer at Cogmedix, was advancing rapidly in his career as well as finally settling in at home with his Loving Girlfriend at that time Susan (who has since become his future wife) and cat Sammy. However over the past three months Shane's health declined and things like fishing tournaments every weekend were becoming more painful, and completely exhausting. He and Sue were doing what they could and enjoying as many weekends as they could in Maine at their camp. Shane was making an impact by helping friends, family and coworkers on the daily, he is most known around for having a "Let's Get It Done" energy that is contagious to be around.

On Friday September 10, 2021, I first heard the news that my good friend Shane found out that he had Cancer, the worst thing someone can have to hear. It that time the severity was still unknown but it was present in his lungs and liver.

When he started feeling ill in July, Dr.s believed Shane had gastritis. After a month he wasn't feeling any better. Shane's Primary care DR. N.P. Morgan decided to run a CT scan on his lower abdominal region. This is when it was discovered that he had multiple lesions on his liver that were malignant. Shane never would have known without this initial CT Scan. Since then he's had a lot of blood work, 3 CT scans, an MRI on his brain and next week a PET scan of his entire body. Chemotherapy is also being shechuled to start next week. He will be having 4 cycles of chemo, with 3 different drugs, every 3 weeks. Chemotherapy takes 5 to 6 hours each session.

Shane has too much to live for and he is ready to fight the battle so he can live out his real life love story with Susan.........
Susan and Shane met in 1987, when Shane was 15. They both worked at Friendly's in Holden. Sue was Shane's boss. He has since admitted he had a crush on her... at that time Sue didn't look at him that way. She remembers him cute and quiet. Back in 2019, a few past Friendly's employees on Facebook who worked there years ago, decided to get together and have a reunion. Shane saw Susan's name as we had mutual friends in common and friend requested her. They went on there first date which of course anyone who knows Stubborn Shane said...was not a date. Sue belives he was jaded back then and really cautious, as both he and she had gone through a very bad divorces.

After seeing each other for a few weeks, Shane decided to introduce Sue to his family. Who then, walked into his mom's kitchen... looked at her and said" I know you" and immediately she said the same thing. Shanes mom had been Sue's Dr.'s secretary for years; Sue never knew she was Shane's mom. She had been in her life all that time.
Small world and seems like they were destined one way or another. A lot of couples came out of Friendly's coworkers of Sue and Shane's, that are all still married...these two Lovebirds will be the 4th success story. Although, it took them a long time to get here, they finally did. Shane and Sue got engaged for Marriage on October 1, 2021. She tells me she will do what ever it takes to care of Shane through this and she doing a amazing job.❤

Now for the next hard part:
On top of all the worry testing and stress of cancer... Medical bills are piling up as Shane must meet his yearly $5,000.00 deductible for health insurance before the insurance covers all these test and treatments, nevermind the Holiday's quickly approaching. We need everyone's help to support Sue and Shane so that they can finish living out there real life love story. ❤
