My name is Shane Lindsey my wife Lori and I were having a great day on the 4th of July.

We had been barbecuing all day and were getting ready for fireworks when I was unexpectedly bit by a moccasin which unfortunately became stuck between the bones in my hand injecting a very large amount of venom.

I was taken to the hospital immediately where I had a bad reaction to the snake bite. I received 39 vials of antivenom and had to have 2 surgeries because of compartment syndrome (severe swelling in the arm and hand) from the bite requiring 135 staples and stitches from shoulder to hand. I spent 5 days in ICU. After release from the hospital I developed side effects from antivenom that impaired my ability to walk for several days. (serum sickness). I have a long road to recovery including therapy to gain movement in my hand, wrist and lower arm area as I cannot use them yet and I'm being referred to a special clinic for snake bites in Birmingham Alabama. I am having to take a leave of absence from my job at Blossman gas due to this accident and the lingering issues caused by the bite.

My goal is to regain full use of my hand and arm.

Your donations will allow us to visit the UAB Snakebite Center in Birmingham Al. to speed this recovery up and hopefully avoid any other possible setbacks. Unfortunately we will be about 5 hours away from our home.
