MR SHANE MATVEYEFF NEEDS YOUR HELP!
FINANCIAL SUPPORT WILL BE ESSENTIAL TO GET SHANE HOME FROM HOSPITAL SAFELY AND TO SUPPORT HIS ONGOING NEEDS NOW THAT HE HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH CANCER.
I am the NDIS Support Coordinator of Mr Shane Matveyeff. 12 years ago Shane had a major stroke followed by 2 seizures which left him with “Locked in Syndrome”. This diagnosis left him paralysed, with no voluntary movement or speech, he is incontinent and peg fed and is on numerous daily medications to help him to live comfortably. Locked in Syndrome, has made it that Shane is reliant on others for ALL of his everyday needs. Shane’s no longer able to communicate verbally and can only indicate YES and NO with his eyes. Shane has had the very best of care provided by his dedicated and loving wife Christine, but this type of 24 hour daily care takes its toll on those providing this care for so long.
Accessing funding from the NDIS to meet Shane’s complex daily support needs has always been a struggle, and even as we speak we have an open case at the Administrative Appeals Tribunal to fight for the in-home support and assistive technology that is essential in meeting Shane’s needs.
Shane has been WAITING OVER 12 MONTHS for a new ELECTRIC WHEELCHAIR , a new ELECTRIC HI LO BED and AIR ALTERNATING MATTRESS, a state of the art EYE GAZE COMMUNICATION & ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL DEVICE, and adequate Specialised Disability Accommodation funding to support his lifelong support needs.
Shane is currently in HOSPITAL and has been for the last 5 WEEKS addressing numerous major health concerns. Shane was admitted due to excessive bleeding from his bowels and two major pressure wounds in the pelvic area. Since his admission Shane has already endured 5 surgeries! He has needed numerous blood vessels quarterised in his bowels, he has had to have an abscess found on his liver drained and then another abscess drained found in his prostate, due to the risk of infection to his open wounds in his pelvic area Shane had to transition to a stoma and colostomy bag. Unfortunately, now Shane is in the fight for his life as the doctors have found CANCER. With the help of his wife Christine, Shane has written his own statement to ask for financial help.

Hi My Name is Shane Matveyeff & I've spent 12 years of my Life Living with my Disability Locked in Syndrome after suffering 2 Seizures, spending 1 year in Hospital to return home to live with my Wife Christine.
My Life has in the last 5 weeks has changed dramatically with me being hospitalised and having numerous surgeries only to come through with good Health then the Dr's had told my wife & I that a recent Muscle Biopsy has come back as Cancer, it's an aggressive type and has No Cure.
It was at this point I realised that my wife & I needed finainal support and its something that has taken a lot for me/us to ask for, but this will assist to take me home and continue to live a good quality of Life that I've lived up until now. Both my wife and I have lived on the our regular Living expenses, we will struggle financially to fund the transport for my treatments & Drs, registered nurse to attend to home daily to do IV Picline antibiotics, extra consumables for my wound care and stoma care and all of the unknown costs that a cancer diagnosis will bring upon us.
If you can find it in your heart to help myself and my family I would truly appreciate your support! Every little bit will help and if you could please share this on your social media platforms that would also help!
