Help Shane Beat Lymphoma

After not feeling well for a couple of months, Shane Downie received the devastating news that he has a very rare and very aggressive form of B-cell Lymphoma.  Shane is a 40 year-old loving husband and a devoted father to four beautiful young children, ages 1 - 11. As you can imagine, they love their daddy so much and want him to get better very soon so that he can continue to be the fun-loving dad they remember and need.  Shane and his wife, Sasha, enjoy taking the family camping and boating whenever possible. Shane loves the outdoors and is an avid fisherman and hunter.

Shane has an amazing attitude, which anyone that has spent time with him can attest to.  He is staying true to that quality during this journey as well. He’s the kind of man who puts others needs before his own and is always good for a healthy laugh or a shoulder to lean on.  Unfortunately, this cancer has stopped him in his tracks - for now.

Shane has a long road ahead of him.  The doctors are treating his Lymphoma with an aggressive Chemo regimen, where he will remain in the hospital for 6 days while his body is pumped with an around-the-clock Chemo cocktail, then go home for three weeks, then repeat for many more months.  

He completed his first week of Chemo a couple of weeks ago.  The doctors are hopeful that it will shrink the large tumor on his left lung so that he can breathe better and improve his quality of life.  The amount of fluid removed from around his lungs is slowly decreasing, which is also helping him breathe better. We are so thankful for this.  His second round of treatment begins next Thursday.

As Shane is the primary “breadwinner” for his family and will have to take an extended period of time off work, this will take a huge toll on their finances.  We have decided to create this Go Fund Me account for him to help offset some of the expected and unexpected medical bills, travel expenses, and the loss of income.  Thank you for considering donating to this worthy family.
