My name is Jennifer Salter, a life-long resident of Fort Worth, TX. A dear friend of mine that I work closely with, Shanay Smith, opened up her heart and kindness to me from the first day we met. Upon getting to know her, I quickly recognized how caring she and her family are. She moved here from Jamaica in 2021 while most of her large family remained there.

As many of you may know, the recent Hurricane Melissa destroyed many areas of Jamaica, including her family's in East Moreland. The last week, I have watched and listened to Shanay and her family wonder, worry, cry, and pray for the safety of the family and their homes. After days of no communication during and after the storm, we were all thankful to find out that the family survived. However, their homes that they have worked so hard to build a life on are completely destroyed. Her large family is lucky enough to share a small house while they figure out how to rebuild their lives and the lives of their children. Needless to say, they have a long road ahead of them with little to work with.

I'm asking for any donations to help replenish and rebuild this family's livelihood, spirit, and strength. Your donations will be spread throughout the family's current and future needs such as clothes, food, toiletries, repair supplies, and possibly something to uplift their spirits like books or music.
