Help Shamara Get a Double Lung Transplant
I never imagined I would be making a GoFundMe for my best friend, Shamara, who at just 49 years old, urgently needs a double lung transplant. But here we are, and we need your support.
If you know Shamara, you know how incredibly sweet, kind, and caring she is. She’s the kind of person who lights up every room she enters and is a friend to everyone she meets. But after noticing her breathing was off, she sought medical help and was devastated to be diagnosed with a hereditary autoimmune disease called MDA5. This disease is causing interstitial lung disease (ILD), which has left her in need of a double lung transplant. Tragically, MDA5 carries a life expectancy of less than 5 years.
Shamara recently celebrated her 49th birthday on November 23rd and has three beautiful children who need her. She has so much life ahead of her and so much more to accomplish. Five years is simply not enough time.
Currently, Shamara is undergoing chemotherapy, taking steroids, and relies on constant oxygen support due to dangerously low oxygen levels. She’s been in contact with her doctors about being added to the transplant list, but the journey ahead is going to be long and challenging.
How You Can Help
We’re asking for donations to help cover the medical expenses associated with her treatment, the lung transplant procedure, and the ongoing care she’ll need. No amount is too small—every contribution makes a difference. If you're unable to donate, sharing this campaign is just as valuable.
We’ll keep you updated as Shamara navigates this journey, and we’re grateful for your support, love, and generosity.
Thank you for your kindness and help. Together, we can give Shamara the chance she deserves to keep fighting for her future.
