Shakira is a 32-year-old Black mother and survivor of domestic violence. She’s currently on home detention and working hard to rebuild her life after being released into an unsafe environment. Despite facing immense challenges, Shakira remains determined to get back on her feet for herself and her 12-year-old daughter.
After her release, she found herself without basic necessities—no clothing, food, or access to her essential medications. With the help of LAR, she was placed in temporary housing for her safety. Shakira is doing everything she can to heal from the trauma she's endured, but the journey is difficult.
Her ultimate goal is to secure stable housing, regain her independence through steady work, and reunite with her daughter, who is currently being cared for by her father. To do that, she needs support with transportation to medical and program appointments, clothing, food, rent, and other essentials.
Shakira is trying every day to heal and move forward. Your donation—no matter how small—can help give her the fresh start she deserves.
Thank you for your kindness and support.
