Hi, my name is Rob and I'm fundraising for Shakinah Smith. Shakinah is one of our Early Education teachers at Community Christian School. Here is a brief story of Shakinah's current health struggles and financial needs. Shakinah is an hourly employee and will miss many days of work due to feeling ill. Shakinah is a loyal and hard worker but some days the pain is too much and she just can't physically be here.
As one of our own CCS Family Members I'm asking everyone to give what they can financially and prayerfully to help meet the needs of Shakinah's family during these very difficult times. Any amount you can donate will help offset the days she misses from not being at work or to help buy groceries for her family. Let's help lessen the financial burden for this family so they can concentrate on God and Healing!
As stated in Matthew 18: 19-20 "Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them."
In May of this year, Shakinah Smith learned she has reoccurring breast cancer. She was diagnosed with HER2+ breast cancer at the age of 32 after feeling a lump on her left breast.
In a matter of one year, Shakinah underwent 6 rounds of chemotherapy, had three surgeries including lymph nodes removal, and received 6 weeks of radiation treatments. Shortly afterward, she began focusing on her health, determined to get back to her old self again because her family depended on her especially her children.
Now after almost 5 years in remission, she has triple negative breast cancer. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy and will soon have a bilateral mastectomy (the removal and reconstruction of both breast). There are many side effects such as fatigue, bone pain, and extreme nauseous causing her to miss many days of work at CCS.
But she has committed to herself and to others around her to live her best life every day doing what she loves. She is not looking for pity; she is looking for compassion. According to scripture in Matthew 14:13-14, “And Jesus went forth and saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion toward them, and He healed their sick.” In Colossians 3:12 “Therefore, as GOD’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with COMPASSION, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. We/Shakinah believe the Word of God has the power to heal and transform our lives. So “Let your compassion come to me that I may live, for your law is my delight,” according to Psalms 119:77.
