On February 22nd, my mother,Shakenya Moye, was rushed to the hospital with extreme pain under her right leg, and ultimately had to have surgery. She had a cyst, which turned into a boil, but because of her diabetes, it turned into an infection that is currently attacking her bones, and has entered her bloodstream. She is making some progress, but is in a great deal of pain, and has a long road ahead of her to make a full recovery.

Although the surgery was successful, while in the hospital she was given motrin (which we were told diabetics cannot have– only after it was given to her by professionals). This caused her to have kidney failure, and a lot of fluid retention.

Spending a full 2 weeks at South Nassau hospital, she was unable to work, and as a result, has no sick days. She has been bedridden, and unable to walk which caused her to be out of work this entire time.

She now has to have home care, which we will have to pay for out of pocket. Due to the cost of her insulin, and other medications, (which insurance only covers partially) we are asking for help. Anybody who knows my mother knows she would do anything for others, and the people she loves. My mother is the main provider for our family, and we are in great need of any financial assistance possible. Any donations would be greatly appreciated–any extremely helpful!

All donations would cover homecare, hospitalization expenses, associated medical expenses, doctor visits (she has a copay), and daily living expenses. It's hard asking for money in tough times, but we wouldn't be asking if we really didn't need it.
