My name is Shaina Feinberg and I am an award-winning American filmmaker and writer. I spent my twenties making a stoner, punk sketch show called The Spew. My short doc, A Brief History of Hating My Face (2023), was commissioned by The New York Times. My films have played around the world, including at the Tribeca Festival, the Rotterdam International Film Festival, Hot Docs, Aspen, Palm Springs, at the Pera Museum in Istanbul and have been written about in The New Yorker, The New York Times, Bust, Broadly, Logo, THEM, Indiewire and more. I have written for The New Yorker, Washington Post, Tablet and write regularly for the New York Times. My third book, Work, is due out in December 2024. I have just finished a short film on Joan Darling, the first woman to be nominated for an Emmy in directing and I am embarking on a feature about her. I live in Brooklyn with my partner and our two children.
