Hi everyone, I am Kris, fundraising for Shai's Cancer treatment and surgery.

In 2018, I was scrolling through a Petfinder app and stumbled across Shai's picture. Even though I was only looking at a picture, my heart fluttered, and I could feel her energy through the phone. I was immediately starstruck by this 1-year-old boxer-pit mix and needed to meet her. In my first few seconds of physically seeing her across the parking lot for a meet and greet, she wiggled in utter excitement. My soul knew I had found not just a pet but a soulmate - like we'd been in another life together and were reunited once again.

When Shai came into my home, she and I immediately bonded; I knew I wanted to take care of her, love her endlessly, and have adventures to make up for lifetimes. Over the past five years, Shai has impacted our lives in indescribable ways - friendship, love, laughter, long snuggle sessions, protection, support, encouragement, inspiration, and thousands of puppy kisses that thaw all troubles - she even produces a harmonic snore to my fiance in the middle of the night <3.

Our friends and family refer to her as precious, and I couldn't agree more. Her love and energy can fill any room with tenderness. Her eyes will melt your heart time and time again.

Shai had a rough upbringing before we adopted her. She started life as a homeless pup on the streets. After the animal shelter picked her up, she was adopted - but kept in a crate that didn't allow her to stand upright or turn around, and she was malnourished. But the third time's the charm, and our Shai girl found her furever home with us. Our goal has always been to give her everything to make her pitty smile shine bright.

In November 2022, Ramses and I noticed some skin tags that brought concern. The vet told us to watch out and record any changes. Unfortunately, I am brokenhearted to share that Shai tested positive for cancer and needs surgery to remove 3 Mast Cell Tumors and further testing to determine their grade. Thankfully we caught it early, but at this stage, we cannot apply for insurance due to the diagnosis - so we are asking for your support. Anything helps, and all funds will be directed to Shai's medical expenses and post-care.
