We are reaching out to ask for support for our sister Shahnee, her partner Mitch, and their children during an unimaginable time.

At 38.5 weeks pregnant, Shahnee suffered a critical and extremely rare aneurysm on the artery leading to her spleen. Shahnee was a healthy young woman, eagerly awaiting the arrival of her baby boy. Everything was going perfectly—until in one heartbreaking moment, it wasn’t.

When Shahnee first felt sudden pain, she thought it may have been the beginning of labour and the exciting journey to meet their son. Instead, it marked the beginning of a devastating medical emergency.

Shahnee collapsed at home and was rushed to Emergency, where the family received the heartbreaking news that their precious baby boy had no heartbeat. Shahnee herself was in critical condition, and every second counted. She was rushed into emergency surgery, where she lost her life for a period of time before doctors were able to bring her back.

Shahnee is now in a coma and faces a long and uncertain road to recovery. At this stage, we do not know the full extent of the damage or what challenges lie ahead, but we do know their world has been turned upside down.

Mitch is now carrying the unimaginable weight of grieving the loss of his newborn son, caring for their children, and standing beside Shahnee as her strength and support through this fight. Their household relies on Mitch’s income, and he now needs significant time away from work to care for his family and navigate whatever recovery journey lies ahead.

We are hoping to ease some of the financial pressure during this devastating time. Funds raised will go toward household bills, medical-related costs, and funeral expenses for their beautiful baby boy.
